About the job

Location: Remote (candidates based in London, UK) Job type: Internship, part-time Hours: 10 to 12 hours per week Duration: 3 months Pay: Unpaid internship, with weekly performance-based bonuses (not guaranteed) Language: Fluent English

The role in brief

You learn M&A the way practitioners do, by working on real deal situations rather than textbook exercises. The internship starts with understanding sellers, because knowing what motivates an owner is where a deal begins. From around week four, you can begin supporting live deals and learning how valuation, structure and sequencing fit together in an entrepreneurship through acquisition (ETA) transaction.

Responsibilities

  • Start conversations with business owners and executives to understand their businesses and goals (outbound outreach is part of the role)
  • Weigh seller motivations against buyer constraints
  • Assess feasibility and deal readiness
  • Help turn what you learn into lower-middle-market deal structuring
  • Prepare conversation notes, next steps and negotiation plans
  • Study earnouts, seller financing, rollover equity and reps and warranties
  • Observe how Caprae handles valuation gaps and what kills or revives a deal

Compensation

This is an unpaid, part-time internship. It runs for 3 months at 10 to 12 hours per week. Weekly performance-based bonuses are available. They are not guaranteed.

Interns who join the deal team and manage deal flow can earn up to 20% of Caprae's success fee, and several have built a potential bonus pool of $50K+. This is performance-based and not guaranteed.

Progression

After one month, interns with strong performance may work alongside the deal and research teams. Caprae prefers to hire full-time staff from the internship, and converted three interns to full-time roles in 2025.
