Thinking about a career as a private equity analyst? Start by learning what actually moves a deal forward.
The Opportunity
The Caprae Buyside Internship is a high-intensity training ground for future dealmakers. It is not passive research, and it is not slow-paced financial modelling.
You learn M&A fundamentals as practitioners do, through live conversations, real negotiation psychology and rapid exposure to deal structuring.
Your starting point is communication. You will learn to engage founders, read their motivation, overcome objections and extract deal-relevant information.
As early as four weeks in, you can begin supporting real deals and building an understanding of valuation logic, structure mechanics and the sequence of an ETA transaction.
Most internships leave out the human side of M&A. We start with it, because that is where deals are won.
What Your Week Involves
- Engaging with business owners and executives daily
- Working through objections, gathering context and understanding founder psychology
- Learning how buyers and sellers negotiate outside of textbooks
- Practising controlled, professional persuasion
- Keeping conversations structured and outcome-oriented
- Supporting deal structuring in the lower middle market, drawing on those conversations
- Weighing seller motivations against buyer constraints
- Evaluating fit, feasibility and deal readiness
- Learning how earnouts, seller financing, rollover equity and reps and warranties are used
- Seeing real deal conversations unfold and structures adjust dynamically
- Supporting live buyer and seller interactions
- Helping prepare call notes, next steps and negotiation plans
- Watching how Caprae navigates valuation gaps and structure negotiations
- Understanding what kills deals and what revives them
- Seeing the pacing, sequencing and psychological arc of a transaction
Why It Is Different
- 100% real-world communication and deal execution
- Negotiation psychology from day one
- Rapid exposure to real transaction mechanics
- Strong KPIs after one month can lead to working with the deal team and the research team
- Interns who make the deal team and manage deal flow can earn up to 20% of our success fee, and several have potential bonus pools of $50K+
- We strongly prefer to hire our full-time team from the internship program: 3 interns converted to full-time in 2025, and we expect to onboard significantly more in 2026
About Caprae Capital Partners
Caprae is a private equity and acquisitions platform led by Kevin Hong, a serial founder who scaled two tech ventures to $31M ARR and $7M in revenue.
Launched in January 2025, it is now one of the fastest-scaling platforms in lower-middle-market M&A and the ETA ecosystem. It brings together an international research engine, a full-stack deal sourcing arm and a rapidly expanding tech layer.
So far this year, our services divisions have completed $50M in transaction value, and we expect to exceed $150M in Q1 and Q2 of 2026.
We want people who are ready to take PE to the next level.
Is This You?
- You are a strong communicator and a fast learner
- You want responsibility early
- You want to learn how deals really happen, not how they are taught
- You learn better by doing than by observing
- You enjoy structured, dynamic conversation more than spreadsheet-heavy analysis
- You are fluent in English (a must)
