Real Estate Credit | Special Situations | Deal Ownership
A London-based credit hedge fund is looking for its first dedicated Real Estate Analyst within its special situations team. You'll take ownership of investments from the outset, sourcing and underwriting opportunities rather than working within a larger investment team. The fund invests in discounted debt across businesses and asset-backed situations, generating returns through restructurings, refinancings and other complex investment opportunities.
Real estate has been a significant part of the strategy, with substantial exposure across previous investments and a global, sector-agnostic approach spanning a broad range of property sectors and geographies. With fresh capital nearing completion, the fund is well positioned to pursue new opportunities. Continued growth in its real estate investments has created the need for dedicated investment expertise.
You'll analyse both the underlying real estate and debt, working through the investment, structuring and legal aspects of each deal from initial assessment through to execution and exit. The team is experienced but lean, offering direct exposure to investment decisions and greater autonomy than you'd typically find within a larger institution. Responsibility and earnings can grow in line with the situations you originate and execute.
Key responsibilities
- Sourcing real estate opportunities across distressed debt, restructurings and refinancings
- Underwriting assets and debt positions, including financial modelling, recovery analysis and scenario work
- Reviewing facility agreements, intercreditor agreements and other legal documentation
- Preparing investment recommendations for senior investment professionals
- Assessing opportunities across a varied mix of asset classes and geographies
About you
- Real estate investment experience, ideally 2–5 years, gained at an investment bank, PE firm or credit fund on either the equity or debt side, including experience at a top-tier firm.
- Strong analytical skills and an interest in the legal and structural detail behind investments
- Confident engaging with people and comfortable owning situations from initial assessment through to exit
