Investment Associate / Senior Associate – Private Equity (Germany)
About the job:
Our Private Equity clients in Germany are actively hiring Investment Associates and Investment Senior Associates to join their deal teams. You will work directly with Partners and Principals on the full investment cycle, from sourcing and evaluating opportunities to executing transactions and supporting portfolio companies. The roles are generalist across sectors, based in Germany (Frankfurt, Munich, Düsseldorf, Hamburg or Berlin), with immediate or near-term start dates.
What you'll be doing
- Sourcing and screening new investment opportunities, including proprietary deal flow and processes run by advisors
- Building and maintaining financial models (LBO, DCF, operating models) and analysing returns and downside scenarios
- Leading and coordinating due diligence workstreams (commercial, financial, legal, tax) with external advisors
- Preparing investment committee memos, management presentations and market and company analyses
- Supporting negotiations, financing structuring and transaction execution through to closing
- Working with portfolio company management on monitoring, value creation initiatives, add-on acquisitions and exits
- Mentoring and guiding Analysts and junior team members (Senior Associate level)
What we're looking for
- 2–6 years of relevant experience in Private Equity, Investment Banking (M&A / leveraged finance), Transaction Services or Strategy Consulting
- Proven track record on live transactions, ideally including buy-side processes in the mid-market
- Excellent financial modelling, valuation and analytical skills
- Outstanding academic record from a leading university (Business, Finance, Economics or a related field)
- Fluent German (native or near-native) and business-fluent English are mandatory
- Strong communication skills, commercial judgement and the ability to work independently in a small, entrepreneurial team
- High level of drive, integrity and attention to detail
- Senior Associate level: ability to lead deal execution and manage junior colleagues; CFA or MBA is a plus
